The English Drama Group

New plays 2011

This year is very special: For the first time the English Drama Group has got so many new students that we have split into two groups. That means: Two plays this year!

Black comedy

an adaptation of a farce by Peter Shaffer performed by the older students (years 10 to 13)

  • Thursday, 24th November 2011, 8 pm, and
  • Friday, 25th November 2011, 8 pm in our school

On the play:
Young artist Brindsley and his girlfriend Carole have invited very important guests to their apartment: A millionaire to see and maybe buy Brindsley's sculptures and Carole's father to meet Brindsley for the first time. To impress them, Brindsley and Carole have "borrowed" antiques and furniture from a neighbour to "pimp" their apartment. But nothing goes as planned when there is suddenly no electricity and, of course, no lights! When unexpected visitors also arrive and everything people do is in darkness, the evening turns into a nightmare for Brindsley - and into a great laugh for the audience who can see everything!
How do we do that? Come and see!

The younger students in the EDG, 18 students in years 7 to 9, have decided to play "ROBIN HOOD"! Who doesn't know the story of Robert of Locksley and his brave group of "merry men", who robbed the rich and gave the money to the poor and had to fight the Sheriff of Nottingham? In our play, there is lots of fun and tricks, and Robin's girlfriend Marian will show you who the real fighter was!

ROBIN HOOD will be performed shortly before or after Christmas.
We will let you know about the dates soon!

Why English drama? It's interesting, it's different and it's FUN!

We are 25 students from year 7 to 13 and our director is English teacher Mrs. Glinka . We meet in our free time once a week and when the performance is near, we sometimes rehearse at the weekend or in the evening, too. We try to do everything ourselves, which is a lot more than learning text and playing scenes: designing the stage, organising costumes, hair, make-up and props, operating the lights, promoting our play, filming the show etc. By the way: We are always interested in new talent, so come and join the English Drama Group!
